Field Day 2013 was the second Field Day for the WCC. We were 1A Class in the Santa Barbara section once again, under the club call sign K6WCC. With the kind permission of the Forest Service we operated on the same hill top in the Los Padres National Forest as 2012. Most contacts were made on the 20m band, with a few on 40m and 6m. The 20m antenna was a homebrew 3 element beam designed with the help of Alex K6VHF.
Members Jacob N6HPA and Erik N8MJK brought several first timers to the WCC FD Site. Preliminary logging shows 719 contacts made in 24 hours of operating. The new antenna worked wonderfully, but several logistical lessons were learned that will lead to changes to the WCC 017 mast truck and the field power system.
